Chancellor Austin Lane says priorities will remain the same

As the winter break comes to a close, campus leaders say they're ready for students to return, and focused on helping them achieve their goals.

Chancellor Austin Lane says it's in part a continuation of the same priorities from the fall.

"We just sort of move right along that same structure that we had when we started the year - that process-driven structure - to keep us focused. That way we're not all over the place trying to do some things that either we don't have the resources to do, or personnel to do, but things we've strategically planned for."

Chancellor Lane says those priorities remain enrollment and retention - but also a focus on degree completion and making sure students have what they need to continue towards graduation.

SIU students will return to Carbondale this week in preparation for the Spring 2023 semester, which starts next Tuesday.

Jennifer Fuller joined Capitol News Illinois in July 2023 as the organization’s broadcast director. She will oversee the launch and operations of CNI’s new broadcast division.
