After nearly 14 months of negotiations, SIU School of Medicine and AFSCME Local 370 have come to an agreement and ratified a new contract, effective through June 30, 2025.
More than 600 SIU School of Medicine employees work in positions represented by AFSCME.
The plan includes sustainable pay increases that are in addition to the 17.2% in increases that SIU School of Medicine has voluntarily made since 2019. Details of the plan include the following agreements:
A two-year contract that is effective through June 30, 2025
FY24 increases at 3 percent and retroactive to July 1, 2023
FY25 increases at 3.5 percent that will be effective July 1, 2024
The plan also includes five new titles in the bargaining unit, changes to clinic nurse exempt status and attendance policy changes.
“In every stage, we remained committed to our goal of being responsive to the needs of staff while protecting the financial stability of the organization. We are proud of the progress symbolized by this agreement and we recognize that leaders and members are both committed to our mission of better health for all,” said Jerry Kruse, MD, MSPH, dean and provost of SIU School of Medicine.
