Tuesday could be the day former Saluki Deanna Price realizes her dream of becoming the first American woman to ever earn a medal in the women's hammer throw.

Price qualified for the event final after finishing 3rd in the qualifying round on Sunday.

The Saluki Hall of Famer says her coach and husband, JC Lambert, emphasizes she has the power to compete with anyone, it's doing the little things right that could earn her spot on the podium.

"Before I get in the ring, I tell him what I'm focusing on. Then, afterwards, after the throw, I discuss how did I feel on that throw to really get in tuned with my own body and really start chipping away at those technical aspects that I really need to execute. That is going to be the difference between walking away with a medal or not."

Price is scheduled to be the first thrower when the final round of the women's hammer throw gets underway Tuesday at 12:57 p.m. central time on Tuesday.
