SIU Hall of Famer Jack Hartman to be Inducted into National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame

SIU Athletics

SIU basketball Hall of Fame coach Jack Hartman has been selected to the National Collegiate Basketball 2024 Hall of Fame Class.

Hartman is just the second Saluki to be inducted into the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame joining SIU and NBA icon Walt Frazier. Hartman joins seven others in the 2024 class.

Hartman posted a 144-64 record in eight seasons as the Salukis' coach. Highlights of his career at SIU include five postseason appearances during his first five years on campus, culminating with leading the Salukis to a 24-2 record and securing the NIT championship in 1967.

During that championship season, Hartman coached notable players such as Walt Frazier and Dick Garrett.

Hartman coached the Salukis for three more seasons as SIU transitioned from the College Division to the University Division.
