The Carbondale Human Relations Commission will hold a special discussion on house parties at its meeting Monday evening.
Commission Chairperson Jessica Bradshaw says the commission wants to open a dialog between city police, university students, and the community. Bradshaw says the commission became interested in the issue after some discussion at a prior meeting about a house party held in August that resulted in an arrest and about 400 people gathered at the location.
Bradshaw says she hopes the discussion will raise awareness to the issue as well as provide students and the community information on how the police department responds to such events. The meeting takes place Monday at 6:30pm at the Carbondale Civic Center.
