The Carbondale City Council meets Tuesday night and they have some hefty issues on the agenda.
One major issue is the budget for Fiscal Year 2015. Carbondale's budget projection shows an expected shortfall of more than 730-thousand dollars in the city's General Fund - more than half of that amount comes from a projected drop in city sales tax revenues.
Acting Mayor Don Monty says it's crucial that some changes are made to the budget. Monty says costs will either have to be cut or they'll have to find other revenue sources. Some options the City Council could consider include increasing the home rule sales tax rate, hotel/motel tax rate or city fees.
The City Council will also discuss funding applications from community agencies and organizations as well as a proposal to enhance Taxicab inspection regulations and clarify rates for passengers.
The Carbondale City Council meets Tuesday night at 7:00 pm a the Carbondale Civic Center.
