Carbondale's Chief of Police is about to take on another duty.
The City of Carbondale will appoint Police Chief Stan Reno as Interim City Manager effective April 1.
Reno will succeed Gary Williams, who announced he was stepping down earlier this month after serving as City Manager for 8 years.
Chief Reno, a Carbondale native, joined the Carbondale Police Department in 1997. He would go on to serve as DEA Task Force Officer, Sergeant and Lieutenant while supervising the Investigations Division, and the Deputy Chief of Operations, before being promoted to Chief of Police in 2021.
The City Council will officially approve Reno's appointment at the March 26th Council Meeting.
The City Council will also discuss the process of finding a permanent City Manager at that meeting.
