Senator Tammy Duckworth reintroduced legislation expanding access to in-vitro fertilization, or IVF.
It was reintroduced in response to President Donald Trump's executive order, as part of four bills included in Duckworth's proposed Right to IVF Act.
Duckworth said quote, "Donald Trump promised to make IVF more affordable, but instead, he is focused on cutting vital programs and firing thousands of federal employees to fund tax cuts for billionaires while wasting time with a toothless IVF executive order that fails to deliver on his promise."
The Family Building FEHB Fairness Act would require the Federal Employees Health Benefit Program to cover Americans struggling with fertility.
The act also protects other forms of assisted reproductive technology that millions of Americans rely on to have children.
Duckworth, who had both of her children with the help of IVF, said the bill aims to reduce the cost of IVF for middle-class families in the US, along with Veterans and federal employees.
