Illinois Senate Republicans are urging Governor JB Pritzker to reverse a proposed $32 million cut to disability care services.
In a letter sent Friday, they called on the Governor to restore service hours for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — many of whom live in community homes known as CILAs.
Lawmakers warn the cuts could eliminate 430 direct support jobs, reduce care for nearly 10,000 residents, and strain rural communities already short on staff and facilities.
They argue the move risks undoing years of progress — and puts vulnerable Illinoisans at greater risk of being institutionalized.
The caucus is calling for full restoration of funds and a renewed commitment to community-based care.
