This week, the Illinois Department of Transportation is hosting an open house so the public can learn more and offer commentary on the engineering and environments of roads near Du Quoin.

The meeting will involve Illinois 152, US 51, Illinois 157, Park Street, Stacy Street , and Illinois 14. The proposed projects will improve safety, pavement condition, and the overall mobility of drivers. The meeting's purpose is to present the scope of work and obtain public input. Residents can view maps and speak with the project consultant and other staff.

The meeting will be on Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Southern Illinois Center at the Du Quoin State Fairgrounds.
