Fall Colors About to Explode in the Shawnee National Forest

By IL Radio Network

Harrisburg, IL – Get ready for an explosion of fall colors in the Shawnee National Forest.

This week trees throughout the southern Illinois region will likely break out in a sea of orange, yellow, red and brown. Sue Hirsch is with the Shawnee National Forest. She says this time of year is a great time to experience the colors of the Shawnee.

Hirsch says it's a relatively short window of time to view the fall colors at their peak. She says you can get the latest updates on their website - www.fs.usda.gov/Shawnee
