A Jonesboro man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night on Route 3 in Union County.

Illinois State Police say the 25-year-old man was driving a pick-up south on the highway near Refuge Road around 8 p.m. when he swerved into the northbound lane, colliding with the driver's side of a tanker truck driven by 30-year-old Jacob Wininger of Marion. He refused medical attention.

It took nearly 12 hours for the southbound lane of Route 3 to re-open.
