The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call early Friday reporting that there was a vehicle parked in the roadway on State Highway 149 west of Ziegler. The caller stated that there was also a man lying in the roadway near the front of the parked vehicle.
Sheriff’s Deputies and local police arrived on the scene and found the man with numerous injuries. The preliminary information indicates that he was the victim of an Aggravated Battery and Robbery.
The investigation of the incident is active and ongoing. Assisting agencies include the Zeigler Fire Department, Abbott-AMR, Franklin County Emergency Management Agency, and the Illinois State Police.
