A southern Illinois woman is accused of breaking into a Franklin County home.
After 11 p.m. Tuesday, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a resident in a rural, northern part of the county. The caller said she had arrived home and found her house had been broken into and that a number of her items were in bags beside the roadway near her home.
She also told deputies she observed a woman exit her residence and flee on foot.
Within a short time, a woman matching the suspect's description was seen walking in the area. She was identified as 41-year-old Alexis Melville of Stonefort.
Sheriff Kyle Bacon says Melville was placed under arrest and charged with Residential Burglary and Theft.
