Tap dancing will take center stage this weekend at Shryock Auditorium.
The TapLife Company from New York will show off their skills at Shryock Sunday night offering a wide range of performances.
They will be joined by several SIU students from the Carbondale and Edwardsville campus.
Two SIU professors Darryl Clark and Matthew Williams were commissioned to create original choreography for the company and Williams will perform his.
Assistant Professor of Musical Theater Dance Darryl Clark says the pandemic forced them to delay this event.
“We were going to do this in 2020, and then, of course, the pandemic intervened and we weren't able to do that, so we had to put it on hold and then when things got a little bit easier last year, we just like said we better put the pedal to the metal literally and get working and we started to work. The company invited me to choreograph a piece for them, and they're going to take that piece into their repertory after they leave here.”
The event is free to the public and will be streamed live on the SIU School of Music's YouTube channel.
