A new cycling trail is coming to southern Illinois.

The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded more than $11 million dollars in federal funding to the Crab Orchard Greenway Multi-modal Network at Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge.

The grant, funded through the Fiscal Year 2023 National Significant Federal Lands and Tribal Projects Program, will go toward supporting the construction of 12 miles of a multi-use cycling trail near Energy.
