The Illinois Department of Transportation Tuesday announced the southbound Interstate 57 entrance ramp at Illinois 14, which is exit 71 at Benton, will be closed for approximately seven days beginning, weather permitting, Monday, August 5. The closure is necessary for the reconstruction of I-57.
Then, weather permitting, starting on Monday, August 12, the northbound I-57 ramp at exit 71 in Benton will close for approximately seven days.
Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changing conditions and all detour signs prior to the work zone, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
