A clash at a homeless encampment in Carbondale leads to one injury

One person was injured after an incident in an area of Carbondale used by some as a homeless encampment.

Monday night at 11:39, Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 600 block of East College Street.

Officers learned that a group of around 10 to 15 black male and female juveniles damaged property in the area.

The victim arrived at the camp during the incident and confronted the suspects. The suspects beat up the victim, causing non-life-threatening injuries.

During the incident, a male wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and a red ski mask displayed what was believed to be a firearm. The suspects fled northeast from the area, last seen in the 800 block of East College Street.

The victim was treated at the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for injuries received during the incident.
