The not-for-profit Take Action Today has opened a new recovery resource center in Carbondale.
The organization provides peer-based support services for those struggling with homelessness, mental illness, or substance abuse.
Michael Tyson, who is the founder of Take Action Today, hopes to inspire positive change in the community.
"We're just trying to organize communities better to support people who have struggles with substance use, homelessness and mental health to make sure they have the support that they need within their communities to recover from it."
The organization operates in 7 locations in Franklin, Williamson, Jefferson, Perry, and Jackson counties.
Once the resource center in Carbondale is fully functioning at 809 W. Main St., it will offer showers, laundry services, and meals.
