A resident at Spero Family Services in Mt. Vernon is in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center after an incident Monday morning.
Mt. Vernon Police say they were called to the facility around 8:30 a.m. after a 17-year-old resident stabbed a 15-year-old resident. A third resident, who tried to intervene, was battered, but not stabbed.

Officers took the seventeen-year-old into custody on two counts of Aggravated Battery. The seventeen-year-old was processed at the Mt Vernon Police Department and detained in the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Facility pending a court date in Jefferson County.

The fifteen-year-old victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Department of Children and Family Services was also notified of the incident.
