One man is dead after a shooting at home in Mt. Vernon Wednesday.
Mt. Vernon police say a distraught woman entered the police department lobby around after 12 and reported a man had possibly been shot a t home in the 1800 block of Cherry Street. She also reported a man at the home had attacked her and stole her phone.
Police responded to the scene and saw a man run into the home. They also found a dead man on the front porch of the home.
Police say 30 year old Traviel Gibson did not cooperate with police and resisted officers when taking him into custody.
Police say the investigation is on-going and have not released the name of the victim at this time.
