A Murphysboro man has been sentenced to prison after he was found guilty in 2022 of Aggravated Battery with Use of a Deadly Weapon.

The Jackson County State’s Attorney reports 42-year-old Commodore Jackson received a 17-year prison term.

In November 2021, at around 1:25 A.M., Carbondale Police Officers responded to Hangar 9 in Carbondale, regarding a stabbing. Jackson had stabbed the victim four times in the parking lot, following a verbal altercation inside the bar.

The survivor was able to make his way back toward the front of Hangar 9 where emergency help was called.

The Carbondale Police Department conducted the investigation and the Murphysboro Police Department located and arrested Jackson a few days after the incident.
