Police make an arrest in Show Me Center shooting

A man has been taken into custody in the shooting Sunday at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau.

The Cape Girardeau-Bollinger County Major Case Squad reports 20-year-old Kris Owens has been charged with Assault in the First Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was in a vehicle with three others that was stopped in Cape Girardeau late Monday afternoon.

Another occupant, 41-year-old Christopher Owens, was also taken into custody for an active warrant related to the shooting at the Show Me Center during Cape Girardeau Central High School's graduation ceremony. The warrant was issued because he is a registered sex offender who attended a school-related activity. At the time of his arrest, Owens had a fully loaded 9mm gun magazine. Today (Wednesday), he was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

A third occupant of the vehicle, 34-year-old Andra Jennings, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky was also taken into custody because he was in possession of a firearm, something he is prohibited from having as a convicted felon. Jennings, Jr. is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

The fourth occupant was not charged.

Two people suffered non-life threatening gunshot wounds at the Show Me Center.
