Cape Girardeau Police investigate two shootings, one fatal

Cape Girardeau Police are investigating a pair of shootings, one that is believed to be a homicide.

Late Sunday night, officers with the Cape Girardeau Police Department responded to the 1300-Block of Kenwood Drive and found a woman in the passenger seat of a vehicle with what appeared to be life-threatening injuries. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Officers identified the suspect on scene as 59-year-old Casey Bright of Cape Girardeau. Bright was taken into custody and formally charged with domestic assault in the first degree and felony armed criminal action.

In a separate incident Friday afternoon, 22-year-old Micah Ledbetter of Cape Girardeau died from gunshot wounds in the in the 1500 block of Whitener.

The Cape Girardeau / Bollinger County Major Case Squad identified the suspect as 27-year-old Deandra Leeann Patterson of Cape Girardeau. Patterson is charged with murder in the second degree, felony armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm.
