Suspect wanted in deadly hit and run in Carbondale has been arrested

The suspect wanted in a deadly hit and run incident last week in Carbondale has been arrested.

The Carbondale Police Department reports 36-year-old Jeremy Shered of Carbondale was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon.

He is charged with Failing to Report an Accident Involving Death, Arson, Reckless Homicide Involving a Motor Vehicle, Driving While License Suspended, Obstructing Justice, Failure to Render Aid, and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.

Shered is accused of striking Michael Welling and then fleeing the area. Welling died as a result of his injuries.

The vehicle involved was found burning on West Pleasant Hill Road on June 1.

The investigation remains active and ongoing.
