Two people were taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale after a two vehicle crash early Monday afternoon.

At 12:46 p.m., Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 500 block of North Illinois Avenue where they learned the driver of a U-Haul truck exited a private parking lot and was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on North Illinois Avenue. Both drivers were taken to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the U-Haul truck was issued a citation for Failure to Yield Right of Way and released pending a court appearance.

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Carbondale Police Department. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
