A Sesser man is in custody after he led police on a high speed chase through parts of Franklin County.
The Christopher Police Department says around 9:30 Wednesday night, officers observed a maroon van proceed through the the main four-way intersection of Highway 148 and Highway 14 at a high rate of speed.
As officers tried to stop the driver, identified as 35-year-old Brandon Brown, he continued at a high rate of speed and began to pass multiple other vehicles, causing the other vehicles to almost collide. Brown's vehicle reached speeds in excess of 110+ MPH in a posted 55 MPH speed zone.
The pursuit ended at the intersection of Highway 148 and Park Street Road. An off-duty Police Officer from a neighboring agency observed the pursuit and was able to help apprehend Brown.
While in custody the subject continued to make life threatening accusations towards the officers on scene.
Brown is charged with Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding...Reckless Driving...Aggravated Speeding...Intimidation...Threatening a Public Official and Disobeying a Stop Sign.
