Two people were stabbed after a fight erupted between three people in the same vehicle early in rural Murphysboro.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports Deputies were called to a disturbance near Business Highway 13 and Ava Road just before 3 a.m. Saturday.

A short time later, another person reported a man and woman, covered in blood, on his porch at his residence on Ava Road. They told him they had been stabbed.

When Deputies arrived, they found Matthew Dunmyer and Nico Harper. Dunmyer had a laceration on his neck and was bleeding severely. Harper had a severe laceration on her hand. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Other Deputies found a man at another residence and identified him as Michael Alstat. He had minor injuries consistent with being in a fight.

The preliminary revealed Alstat, Dunmyer and Harper were in the same vehicle when a fight broke out.

Alstat is charged with Reckless Conduct and two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon to cause great bodily harm.
