The Williamson County Sheriff's Department is crediting is proactive policing methods with almost doubling the number of arrests over the past three years.
It says total arrests have gone from 698 in 2022 to 1,353 in 2024.
Sheriff Jeff Diederich says drug arrests are up 19 times what they were just three years ago — from 29 in 2022 to 544 in 2024.
He says this is important because those involved in drug activity often commit ancillary crimes such as theft and burglary to support their habits. Just as concerning, drug abuse and its distribution are frequently tied to violent crimes, domestic violence, and the abuse and neglect of children.
