A two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in rural Carbondale left one dead and two others injured.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports 34-year-old Joe Love of Murphysboro died from his injuries. His passenger, 45-year-old Robert Sanders of Carbondale, was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, 45-year-old Barbara Perkins of Carbondale, was treated and later released.

Deputies say Perkins' vehicle pulled into the path of Love's vehicle on Old Highway 13, near Wood Road, in rural Carbondale. Love lost control of his vehicle, hit a utility pole, and overturned.

The crash is still under investigation.
