SIU’s Office of Innovation and Economic Development is launching "Foodie Fridays," which will feature food vendors every first and third Friday of the month Taqueria Jimenez and Bake Me Happy will be at the inaugural event which is tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at SIU Research Park. Foodie Fridays are open to all, rain or shine.
In Cairo, a block party celebration is being held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, following the groundbreaking of a new 3D home construction. There will be a free lunch of grilled cheeseburgers and hot dogs, chips and drinks. There will be the Food Works Mobile Farmers Market, free treats from the American Ice Cream truck and a free Amazon product give away. In DuQuoin, a Free children’s orthopedic assessment clinic will be held on Friday August 23rd from 2 to 4pm at Marshall Browning Hospital. The clinic will assess bone and joint development in children. Services are free, no referral is needed but you do need to make an appointment. Call the Illinois Elks Children’s Care office at 800-272-0074 between the hours of 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Friday.
