The Shawnee Hills Arts Council is hosting the Shawnee Hills Photo collective. Caleb Hale, a working professional photographer, will lead the event to foster a collaborative group of practicing photographers. The group hopes to develop skills and techniques through collaboration and exploration. All skill levels are welcome. Whether you shoot with a smartphone, a digital camera, or roll film you will want to come see what it is about and have a voice in shaping the collective! There will be two sessions at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Carbondale.

State Senator Terri Bryant is inviting residents across southern Illinois to help spread cheer this Valentine’s Day by participating in her annual Valentines for Seniors Card Drive.
Individuals, families or groups are asked to create or sign Valentine’s Day cards that will be delivered to local seniors, including those living in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Cards can be dropped off or mailed to one of Senator Bryant’s district offices by February 6. Drop-off hours are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday at her Murphysboro District Office on West Industrial Park Road and from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 Monday through Friday at her Mt. Vernon District Office on Broadway Street. During business hours, cards should be placed in the marked mailbox inside each office. A small mailbox is also available outside for after-hour drop-offs
