SIU softball captures the MVC Tournament Championship

The SIU softball team holds the MVC Tournament trophy up for the crowd — The Salukis hold the championship trophy up for the home crowd.

The SIU softball team is headed to the NCAA Tournament after a remarkable run to the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship.

The Salukis opened the tournament with a 2-0 win over UIC on Wednesday.

On Friday, Southern knocked off Illinois State 5-1 and Belmont 4-3 to advance to the championship game.

The Salukis rolled over Indiana State for the title 10-2 in 5 innings on Saturday.
