Vienna students had the chance to learn from veterans Thursday.
During the Flag raising, a salute to veteran program Vienna high school and grade school students learned what it means to be a veteran.
The students heard from a variety of speakers about sacrifice, pride, honor and more.
Special guest speaker and retired Navy Supply Core Coordinator Commander John Pirmann told the students about his experience in the military and being a veteran.
“I have seen things that few people are blessed to see, but is a veteran, I got to tell you. I've seen things that few people occur to see. That's all part of being a veteran and being in the military means being part of something that is so much bigger than just yourself.”
More than 400 students and community members attended the event.
