Thursday in Vienna veterans were honored for their service and sacrifices at their annual ceremony. Students from the grade school and high school heard from a variety speakers including veterans.

Southern Illinois veterans were honored Thursday in Vienna at their “Flag Raising: A Salute to Veterans” program. More than 400 high school and grade school students attended the ceremony along with the members of the community.

Thousands of people will line Main Street in Marion Saturday for the 18th annual Veterans on parade. First responders started walking in the parade a few years later.
