The Carbondale City Council will discuss next year's budget at Tuesday's council meeting.
The meeting will include a public hearing so Carbondale residents are encouraged to attend and voice their opinions on the $46,073,918 Fiscal 2014 Revenue plan. Councilwoman Jane Adams says with the ability to post the budget online, citizens can see exactly where money is being spent and weigh in.
According to the proposed budget, the city plans to provide an across the board 3% pay raise for city employees. Carbondale is also expecting a 1% increase in sales tax revenue during the coming year. General Fund expenditures for such things as police and fire protection, public works, and general government are projected to be $23,425,870. City officials say pension costs and employee health insurance will continue to be concerns.
