19 new attorneys in the Fifth Judicial District will be administered their oath on Wednesday.

Justice David Overstreet will handle those duties at the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon starting at 10 a.m.

All of the candidates have passed the Illinois Bar Exam and a required ethics exam and were certified by the Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness.

The Fifth Judicial District covers 48 counties, mostly in the southern part of the state.

The 300 new attorneys sworn in at Wednesday's ceremonies in Mt. Vernon, Chicago, Elgin, Ottawa and Springfield will bring the total number of licenses attorneys in Illinois to around 97,000.
