Entering one of its busiest construction seasons ever, the Illinois Department of Transportation announced a dozen major projects in southern Illinois are planned or underway, totaling nearly $545 million dollars.
The funding is fueled by the Rebuild Illinois capital program.
Of the 12 major projects in southern Illinois, one is scheduled to be completed in 2024 and the remaining 11 are anticipated to be completed from 2025 through 2028.
Four projects will involve Interstate 57, three on I-24, one on I-64, and one each on Illinois 13, 14, 149 and 146.
