89 Veterans are taking part in the 10th Veterans Honor Flight today. The veterans are taking a free one-day round trip flight to Washington D.C. to visit memorials honoring their service and sacrifice. They return home later today and a Welcome Home Celebration begins at 5pm. The community is invited to bring a chair and enjoy live entertainment and several food trucks during the celebration.
The Welcome Celebration will be held outside at the front airport entrance of Veterans Airport in Marion. The Veterans will pass through the Freedom Path in the airport terminal to see the community celebrating their return. The Welcome Home committee encourages community members to wear patriotic attire and wave a flag or banner to show appreciation for our local Vets. There will be plenty of off-site parking and shuttle transportation.
