The Illinois Department of Transportation says westbound Illinois 149, or Walnut Street, in Murphysboro will be closed from 5th to 7th Street starting Monday, June 9, at 6 a.m.
The closure, delayed last week due to weather, is needed to reconstruct the westbound lanes. It’s expected to be completed by Saturday, June 14.
Eastbound 149 will stay open but be reduced to a single 10-foot-wide lane. Illinois 127 will not be affected. A marked detour will be posted.
Drivers are urged to obey posted speed limits, avoid distractions, and watch for workers and equipment near the work zone.
