Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Williamson County.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle in Williamson County on Saturday night.

Williamson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the accident in the 12000 block of Lake of Egypt Road just after 11:30pm.

Deputies discovered that Jana M. Lence of Herrin, was struck by a passing motorist while attempting to cross the roadway.

Lence was transported by EMS and later pronounced deceased.

The driver, of the vehicle was identified as a 17 year old juvenile who was traveling home from work. While Deputies observed no signs of impairment, the driver, with parental consent, submitted to voluntary drug and alcohol screening at a local hospital.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has requested the assistance of the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.

This remains an ongoing investigation and further inquiries should be directed to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
