Missouri Valley Conference women's basketball coaches participated in a Round Table Tuesday in conjunction with the announcement of the league's pre-season poll.
SIU head coach Cindy Stein said this unique off-season highlighted by the pandemic and social justice protests is showing her and her players there are things bigger than basketball.
"That's actually what we've talked about a lot is, let's just work on being better people, more accountable, being able to be versatile, and flexible and all of those things and make sure we leave Southern bigger, better and hopefully we're living great lives to go even though we're living through a tough time right now."
Stein's Salukis are picked 6th in the league's pre-season poll. They start Valley play New Year's Day at Indiana State.
