Murphysboro Mayor Will Stephens has posted a satirical letter to his Facebook page offering a proposal for the Chicago Bears to consider in their quest to find a location for a new stadium.

Stephens letter on City letterhead starts with, "As the Chicago Bears evaluate a potential move to Arlington Heights, Waukegan, or Lake Forest, Illinois, Will Stephens, Mayor of Murphysboro is calling on the Bears to consider moving to Murphysboro."

The letter goes on to mention the City is willing to retrofit its high school football field to accommodate the additional seating required for the NFL franchise.

Beyond that, Stephens adds the City is willing to offer the highest quality BBQ in the world, running water, electricity, and an annual tax abatement of $500.

The Murphysboro Mayor concludes his satirical letter by stating if the Bears are willing to commit to a 50-year agreement, the City would increase the abatement to $1,000 per year.
