State Police are investigating

A Marion man is dead and a Colp man is behind bars after a stabbing early Thursday morning in Williamson County.

Illinois State Police say they were called to assist with the investigation into the death. Deputies responded to a home on South Johnson Street in Colp just before 7:00 Thursday morning, where they found a 30-year old man had been stabbed. The victim was taken to an area hospital, and pronounced dead.

The suspect in the stabbing is identified as 57-year old Nathan Clark of Colp. He was arrested and booked on a first-degree murder charge. His bond has been set at a million dollars and he remains in the Williamson County Jail.

Investigators are asking anyone with additional information in the case to call the ISP Department of Criminal Investigation at 618-542-2171 -- extension 1203.
