A Murphysboro man is charged with murder

A Murphysboro man faces two counts of First Degree Murder in a shooting incident early Saturday morning in Carbondale.

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department reports 32-year-old Timothy Gassel is jailed on the murder charges.

The victim, 43-year-old Autumn Cole of Carbondale, died of injuries from the gunshot wound on Sunday.

The incident occurred at 47 Oak Valley Drive in Carbondale just after midnight on Saturday.
