A 15-year-old boy is accused of firing gunshots that struck a residence in Carbondale.

Last Sunday evening, Carbondale Police responded to the 700 block of North Billy Bryan Street for a report of shots fired.

Officers learned a passenger or passengers in a white Chevrolet Impala fired shots in the area resulting in several of the shots striking a residence.

The vehicle fled the area prior to the officers’ arrival. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

During the investigation, officers identified a suspect as a 15-year-old from Murphysboro. Detectives applied for and were granted a Jackson County Arrest Warrant for the teenager for Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He was found and arrested on Wednesday.

Anyone with more information on the incident is urged to call Carbondale Police or CrimeStoppers at 618-549-COPS.
