Portions of Cape Girardeau under a boil water order through Thanksgiving

A map of the areas of Cape Giardeau under a boil water order though Nov. 24
City of Cape Girardeau

It may be a less than Happy Thanksgiving for thousands of people in Cape Girardeau.

A precautionary boil water advisory is in effect for more than 57-hundred Cape Girardeau addresses through 4 p.m. on Friday.

The City reports the affected properties include downtown west to Kingshighway and more.

The main is repaired and water is flowing to all customers. There is no known contamination, but water safety testing and verification is a two-day process.

Affected residences should not consume tap water during this period through 4 p.m. Friday unless otherwise notified.

Affected properties are warned to use only bottled water or water that has been boiled for 3-5 minutes for drinking, washing dishes, washing fruits/vegetables, making ice cubes, or brushing teeth.
