Mt. Vernon Mayor John Lewis addressed the issue of a lack of liquor regulations for five local establishments. He announced that violation of license checks will result in stricter penalties.

"By taking proactive measures to address these issues, we can protect our residents and foster an environment of responsible alcohol consumption," said Mayor Lewis.

A first liquor offense would result in a penalty of $1,000, while a second offense would result in a payment of $2,500.

Knuckleheads Bar and Grill, The Corner Tavern, and The Spot Tavern have so far been fined once, while Times Square Liquors North and West have received two penalties.

In the future, the City of Mt. Vernon will monitor businesses closer, ensuring that they all comply.
