With summer in full swing, Ameren Illinois is encouraging parents to talk to their children about electric safety. Whether it’s swimming, climbing trees, or flying drones, Ameren stresses the importance of staying away from electrical equipment and overhead power lines.

Kyle Maxwell, superintendent of Electric Programs and a licensed drone pilot for Ameren Illinois, demonstrates drone safety at the Metro East Training Center in Belleville. Ameren reminds families that outdoor fun should always include safety precautions, especially near power lines.

The company’s message: A simple conversation about electric safety can help prevent accidents during summer activities.
