The City of Carbondale is launching the Freedom to Freedom Celebration Series -- a month-long lineup of free, family-friendly events. Hosted in partnership with the African American Museum of Southern Illinois and nearly 30 local groups, the celebration honors both Juneteenth and Independence Day.
The series begins with the annual Ms. Juneteenth Pageant and ends with fireworks at SIU. Mayor Carolin Harvey says it’s a chance to reflect on freedom and unity.
The events will happen from June 7th through July 4th. For full event details, visit the Freedom to Freedom Facebook page or explorecarbondale.com.
